E-Leadership: the new frontier of management
May 26, 09.00 – 17.00 (Fürstenberghaus, Room F33)
Description of the Workshop
This workshop brings together scholars to discuss and develop research ideas related to the study and development of e-leadership skills. E-leadership skills are seen as those which enable people with very strong ICT skills to lead qualified staff from ICT and other disciplines towards identifying and designing business models and exploiting key innovation opportunities. Their success is defined as making best use of developments in ICT and delivering value to their organizations. They are crucial in the current competitive landscape, where effective organizations are demanding e-leaders who are both business and ICT-savvy, at the same time as there is an expected that there will be a lack of 500.000 qualified professional in the field in Europe by 2020. Our aim is to advance the state-of-the-art in this domain by encouraging participants to reflect on possible theoretical and empirical directions for future IS studies focused on e-leadership skills. In addition, we aim at discussing the design of e-skills education.
